Montana Masterpiece

Dust-bunny clouds whitewash pine-flocked hills
fringed with gold aspen.
Delineated by charcoal ravine wrinkles,
Venetian-gray shadows tawny meadows
spattered with russet shrubs
and pierced by verdant ponderosa lances.
Payne's-gray cloud sprinkles
light slivers on graveled stream,
slices forest vale and marsh.
White-rumped elk dips his cocoa antlers,
sips life's elixir.
Stream silvers on, Pacific-bound.
Bronzed-oak strokes and maple-red slashes
highlight Montana's canvas.
