RAGE AGAINST THE TULIPS

I found you between the continents
signalling distress with your limp neck
and diminished cup of flame.

Thus lured, I buried my hands
into your charred earth
and crumbled the clods,
scattering sleepy seeds of murder
across fertile sands.

When you blossomed,
your veins so distended,
so full of hate,
I saw through my cloud of ignorance
and began this defensive crusade.

The sadists gleam
each time I peel away your skin
in search of that perfect garden,
because your bloody fragrance
only grows.
